Nahdet Misr and Dr. Medhat El Adl celebrated the release of his newest poetry book “Shubra Misr – 36 Al Afdal Street” on Friday the 24th at the Hanager theatre of the Cairo Opera House.
The new book includes 32 poems through which El Adl reflects on some of his personal memories. The poet chose “Shubra Misr” as a title for his poetry book, as for him Shubra, the neighborhood which he grew up in, has always signified a clear example of unity and harmony between Egyptians; rich and poor, Muslims and Christians, Egyptians and non-Egyptians. This beautiful case of harmony is what the poet seeks; a truly unique setting of serenity and peacefulness.
Dalia Ibrahim, Nahdet Misr CEO, says that “Shubra Misr” is a book that takes us from the rather materialistic and harsh daily routine we are living in, and re-directs our sight to the aspects of our life that we have been missing. She emphasized on the fact that Nahdet Misr always seeks to introduce literary work that enrich our lives as individuals and change our perspective of life, that is why the company was quite enthusiastic to publish Medhat El Adl’s “Shubra Misr”. This special piece of work takes us back to the 60’s and the 70’s, and brings in few long-missed feelings such as warmth and closeness between people.
The exquisite event was attended by a number of celebrities, authors and public figures. During the event, few celebrities; namely Lamis Al-Hadidy, Youssra, Safaa Al-Toukhy and Sabry Fawaz presented a number of poems from “Shubra Misr” to the audience.
